Beautiful Fisher Park Neighborhood In Greensboro, NC
Posted by greensboro under Fave Neighborhood, Fisher Park, For Buyers, For Sellers, Homes for Sale, Regional News, Things To Do
Fisher Park is a historic neighborhood with beautiful homes, all within walking distance of downtown Greensboro and several neighborhood parks.
Fisher Park Points of Interest:
Fisher Park is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Greensboro. Fisher Park has an active neighborhood association that hosts neighborhood picnics, park clean-ups, holiday parties and luminaries in December.
Fisher Park is within walking distance of the home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball team and the businesses of downtown. Yet, its tree-lined streets, historic homes and minimal traffic make it feel like miles away. There is a large park located between North Park Drive and South Park Drive and inside Fisher Park Circle.
Latham Park abuts the neighborhood to the west. Latham Park is one of only two public outdoor tennis facilities in Greensboro to offer clay tennis courts. Managed by Triad Tennis Management Company, the facility offers lessons, adult and junior leagues, tournaments and court reservations.
Latham Park also features ballfields, basketball courts and the Latham Park Greenway, a 1.2 mile paved path that runs parallel to North Buffalo Creek with 20 fitness stations. The path links to paths in Lake Daniel Greenway and the Hill Street Connector Trail, making it possible to walk, bike or jog from Cone Hospital and downtown Greensboro to Friendly Center and Wesley Long Hospital.
Also to the west of Fisher Park is the peaceful Green Hill Cemetery, which dates back to 1882. Friends of Green Hill Cemetery, a non-profit organization, offers historic walking tours of this 51-acre gem.
